Current Projects
Robbers Cave
State Park: OETRA installed the trails and
helped install the camp at Robbers Cave in Wilburton. It is
OETRA's officially adopted park. OETRA is currently working on a
project to add 2 corrals per camping site. 10 sites have corrals
so far.
OETRA membership dollars also have gone towards screenings for
each pen (instead of just dirt) and also new wiring at the
Pavilion to upgrade the amperage. The 2012 work weekend is
scheduled for March 26-31. In the past few years, OETRA has
donated more than $12,000 to make improvements at Robbers Cave.
Cedar Lake Equestrian Camp: OETRA members installed new trail markers
and worked the trails, plus participated in a search and rescue
for a missing man. Planted trees during Fall Color Ride. The 2012 work week is scheduled for Feb.
20-25.
Heyburn Lake:
OETRA is supporting the efforts with the Friends of Heyburn Lake
in helping put in new trails and a campground expansion. OETRA
donated $700 for camp improvement projects and $100 towards
the benefit ride held
May 2011. Contact Cris Van Horn at 918-688-1898

Kaw Lake: OETRA hosted a
work weekend April 14-17 to continue work on the
trails at Kaw. OETRA membership dollars went towards improvements
at the equestrian camp. New corrals are being put in place and
OETRA members are donating the labor to weld and install the
corrals. OETRA voted to donate $400 for paint for the new corrals
(1/12)
Sportsman Lake: OETRA is
supporting improvement efforts with a $1000 donation toward
purchasing new picnic tables to go with the new pavilion that is
being constructed (donated by an OETRA member and her
husband.) OETRA members have also been volunteering at Sportsman
and reworking the trails. The City of Seminole is also going to be
using heavy equipment to fix some of the major trail erosion
issues. Sportsman received a major grant of $6890 from the STEP
Program and Tractor Supply to install new corrals throughout the
campground. Community Supporters donated 3,330 feet of pipe and
the City of Seminole is providing the welding and the labor for
installation. A work weekend has been scheduled for March 9-11,
2012.
Wes Watkins Lake: OETRA
is working with the City's of Shawnee and Tecumseh and currently
marking equestrian trails for future use.
